Abel Antón and Martín Fiz return to compete in Athens 25 years later 

Yesterday lived in athens Marathon, one of the most emotional moments in the world of Spanish athletics, where 2 legends in our sport They put on a bib number again to compete together in this event 25 years after a historic day for the sport.

Was the  August 10st, 1997 where Abel Anton ( 2h13:16) was proclaimed world champion by overtaking his friend and rival, Martín Fiz who had to settle for silver despite leading the race until the last 200 meters.

In yesterday's test Antón ran with number 1 and Fiz with number 2, reaching the finish line together in front of thousands of spectators.

The Spanish athletes, ambassadors of Banco Santander, crossed the finish line in a time of 3:39.

"Chen you enter you feel that great victory that the Spanish marathon had here in Athens and you think about how we were able to win it because it is a very tough raceAnton declared.

"I got excited. This race will always be special and it has given me a very important gift, which is being able to enter this stadium again”, commented Fiz at the finish line
