Alistair Brownlee will no longer compete in 2022

The British triathlete Alistair Brownlee He has not had the best year of his career.

This 2022 has been marked by various injuries and illnesses that have left him out of both the 2021 Ironman World Championship and his long-awaited Sub7 attempt in June.

And now it seems your bad luck will continue, since he has announced on Instagram that he will be on out for the rest of this year due to injury.

"The annus horribilis continues“, he comments on his networks. “Unfortunately I have a stress fracture in my femur and I will not be competing for the rest of the year.

The last few months have been more than a test. But I will do my best to solve the problem and return to training soon.".

Brownlee returned to competition last July, after being injured for much of the first part of the year.

He came back at the PTO Canadian Open, where he seemed to be in top form until he had stomach problems in the race.

Shortly after, he took victory at IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea before breaking the British record and winning the Slot for Kona at IRONMAN Kalmar.

He will now withdraw from the PTO US Open, where he was to compete this weekend.
