Andreas Niedrig, Lothar and Nicole LEDER, three great leaders in long distance at European level, join Challenge Barcelona-Maresme

On a spectacular circuit, which runs along the Maresme coast, leading triathletes in this discipline have already confirmed their presence in this event, which was already awarded by the Spanish Triathlon Federation as "best organization 2010 and 2011" and to which it was recently awarded has awarded the headquarters of the 2013 European Medium Distance Triathlon Championship.

Among other relevant triathletes, on September 30, Challenge Barcelona will be attended by three international long-distance referents: Lothar and Nicole LEDER and Andreas Niedrig.

Lothar is one of the favourites for the podium, having won long distance races several times and having also achieved third place twice in the legendary Ironman from Hawaii (1996-1997). His most notable success was in 1996, when he became the first triathlete in the world to break the 8-hour barrier in a long-distance triathlon in Roth, completing the course in a time of 7:57:02, and was also crowned winner of this edition (1996) as well as four subsequent ones (2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003).

The German triathlete will be accompanied in Challenge Barcelona by his wife, Nicole Leder, who will also participate in this test where they will have to complete a circuit of 3,8 meters swimming -180 km by bike - 42 km of running. The German triathlete started in the world of triathlon in 1989, but it was not until 2000 when she competed for the first time in long distance, getting 14th place in the Hawaii Ironman, where she was also a finisher for several years. It was in 2007 when the German triathlete achieved her most remarkable results, the victory in Frankfurt (Germany) as well as the title of European Long Distance champion.

Another triathlete of recognized international prestige in the long distance who will accompany all the participants in Challenge Barcelona will be the German Andreas Niedrig.

This triathlete has almost two decades of experience in the world of triathlon. The most relevant results of this triathlete include his 7th place in the Hawaiian Ironman (2001) and several times podium in Roth (1998-1999-2000-2001) as well as multiple times winner of the Westfalen Triathlon, a legend in this discipline sporty.

For yet another year, Challenge Barcelona is presented as a benchmark in Long Distance, attracting the best triathletes in the world such as Lothar and Nicole Leder and Andreas Niedrig, who once again confirm the quality of the Challenge-Family tests.
