The XXV edition of the Zarautz triathlon comes with notable improvements and new features. The BH Zarauzko Triatloia celebrates its silver anniversary and the test, which will be held this Saturday, comes loaded with incentives. There is the possibility of seeing authentic figures of the specialty in action, both foreign and national, which is not at all easy to bring together in a test.

The quantity is impressive -700 triathletes at the start-, but also the quality, both in the men's and women's categories. All the available places were filled in February, as soon as registration opened, with a considerable waiting list, being in this sense a benchmark event in Euskal Herria and the State, and that today they are held in the national territory 32 tests of the same distance as the one in Zarautz.

Zigor Saizar, vice president of the Zarauzko Triatloi Elkartea, organizer of the test, thanked in yesterday's presentation all those who make this test possible, highlighting the involvement of the Codeam Zarautz triathletes, with 94 licenses, the group with the largest number of triathletes at the state level.

The test will begin with the swimming segment, at 14.45:2,5 p.m. for the women and a quarter of an hour later for the boys from Getaria beach. A XNUMX kilometer journey to Zarautz beach.

After taking the bicycles from the boxes installed in the Munoa, the participants will set out on the bicycle route (76 kilometers), with important novelties in this segment. First of all, it should be noted that the circuit will be closed to traffic and that the cycling test has been modified to guarantee safety. They will have to do three laps of the Zarautz-Getaria-Zumaia-Bedua-Oikina-Meagas-Zarautz circuit and on the fourth lap they will go to Getaria, ascend the Garate pass, go down to Meagas and again to Zarautz, to the Munoa pits, to leave the bikes and begin the 20-kilometer pedestrian race, with the finish line installed in Zigordia kalea, in front of the Town Hall.

A very demanding test and a great show ahead, with 22.000 euros to be distributed in the awards chapter.

The Zarautz test is the second of the TriGranPrix world series after the one held in the United Kingdom on May 22. After Zarautz, the Aritzaleku test in Navarra will follow, TriGrandPrix Ireland (July 23), TriGrandPrix Valencia (September 11) and, TriGrandPrix de France, Ciboure (October 2).

A good part of the foreign triathletes are already in Zarautz to train and get to know the routes better, the organizers said yesterday.

Parallel to the test, there will be no shortage of festive atmosphere around the triathlon, with the opening tomorrow afternoon at Munoa of an exhibition with the leading brands in the world of triathlon, as well as tents with bars, workshops for children, music …

On Saturday at noon, a BH Fitness Tri-Static competition will be held, with four teams (Zarautz, Getaria, Zumaia) and the team of well-known athletes, captained by José Luis Korta. The program will close on Sunday with the txiki triatloi in favor of children with cancer in Gipuzkoa, in collaboration with Aspanogi.
