The XXV edition of the Zarautz triathlon comes with notable improvements and news. The BH Zarauzko Triatloia celebrates its silver anniversary and the test, which will be held this Saturday, arrives loaded with incentives. There is the possibility of seeing real figures of the specialty in action, both foreign and national, which is not easy to bring together in a test.

The quantity impresses -700 triathletes at the start-, but also the quality, both in the male and female categories. All the available places were filled in February, as soon as the registration was opened, with a considerable waiting list, being in this sense a referential test in Euskal Herria and the State, and that today are held in the national territory 32 tests of the same distance as that of Zarautz.

Zigor Saizar, vice president of the Zarauzko Triatloi Elkartea, organizer of the test, thanked all those who make this test possible in yesterday's presentation, emphasizing the involvement of Codeam Zarautz triathletes, with 94 licenses, the group with the largest number of triathletes statewide.

The test will begin with the swimming segment, at 14.45:2,5 p.m. for the women and a quarter of an hour later for the boys from the beach of Getaria. A journey of XNUMX kilometers to the beach of Zarautz.

After taking the bicycles in the boxes installed in the Munoa, the participants will prepare for the bicycle tour (76 kilometers), with important novelties in this segment. First of all, it should be noted that the circuit will be closed to traffic and the cycling test has been modified to guarantee safety. They will have to do three laps of the Zarautz-Getaria-Zumaia-Bedua-Oikina-Meagas-Zarautz circuit and on the fourth lap they will go to Getaria, they will ascend the port of Garate, they will go down to Meagas and again to Zarautz, to the Munoa boxes, to leave the bikes and start the pedestrian race over 20 kilometers, with the finish line installed in Zigordia kalea, in front of the Town Hall.

A very demanding test and a great show ahead, with 22.000 euros to be distributed in the awards chapter.

The Zarautz test is the second of the TriGranPrix world series after the one held in the United Kingdom on May 22. After Zarautz, the Aritzaleku test will follow in Navarra, TriGrandPrix Ireland (July 23), TriGrandPrix Valencia (September 11) and, TriGrandPrix from France, Ciboure (October 2).

Many of the foreign triathletes are already in Zarautz to train and learn more about the routes, the organizers said yesterday.

Parallel to the test, there will be a festive atmosphere around the triathlon, with the opening tomorrow afternoon at the Munoa of an exhibition with the leading brands in the world of triathlon, as well as tents with bars, workshops for children, music ...

On Saturday at noon there will be a Tri-Static BH Fitness competition, with four teams (Zarautz, Getaria, Zumaia) and a team of well-known athletes, captained by José Luis Korta. The program will close on Sunday with the triatloi txiki in favor of children with cancer in Gipuzkoa, in collaboration with Aspanogi.
