Challenge Taiwan welcomes more than 5.000 triathletes

Specifically, 550 will participate in the Full distance, 1.700 in the Half and 3.000 in the Olympic distance.

Challenge Taiwan is celebrated this weekend, will bring together more than 5.000 triathletes between the various events of which the competition is composed.

While sports events are being suspended all over the world, one of the countries that has best managed the crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic, Taiwan has decided to organize a massive event with thousands of athletes.

Specifically, 550 will participate in the Full distance, 1.700 in the Half and 3.000 in the Olympic distance.

The event was to be held in April, but it had to be postponed until this weekend due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Some of the greats have already competed in this event such as the three-time Kona champion and Olympic gold medalist, Jan Frodeno, in 2017 and 2018

The competition takes place in Taitung, on the southeast coast of Taiwan.

The race begins at a man-made reservoir called Flowing Lake, while the bike loop heads north along the shoreline between the Carp Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.

The race course includes downtown Taitung city and country roads before finishing in Tie Hua village.

Athletes from more than 30 countries are represented at the race this weekend, including Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Mexico, the United States and New Zealand.
