Marc Herremans was born with the firm belief of becoming one of the most complete athletes in the world, his result in the Hawaii Ironman 2001 proved that it was possible to fulfill this dream. Herremans finished sixth in the toughest race in the world, the Ironman, making his debut in this modality. On January 28 of the following year his life took a 180º turn. During one of his training sessions on the island of Lanzarote he suffered a serious accident that left him with sequelae in the D5 and D6 vertebrae, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down.

But Marc did not give up and started his second life from the hospital bed: 6 months later he was back in his workouts, this time from a wheelchair.

In the 2004 got his first podium in Hawaii Ironman with a third position, followed by a 2º podium position in the 2005 and the 2006 achieved his great dream: Proclaim himself winner of the prestigious Hawaiian Ironman in its category.

"I still have many challenges in mind," says the Ironman winner, "but my biggest goal is to walk again, I firmly believe that one day it will be possible to do it again."
