Sara Pérez and Delioma González second and third in the mythical Triathlon Volcano

(Advance) This morning the 34 edition of the Volcano Triathlon organized by the Santa Club was held, the triathlon that has been held the most in Spain and the oldest in the world.

 

El Triathlon Volcano of Olympic modality consists of a swimming segment of 1,5 km. in the lagoon of Club Santa, followed by 40 km. of cycling, two laps with departure from Club La Santa to Caleta de Caballo, Soo, Famara and back (twice), a new circuit without vehicle traffic. And finally a walking segment of 10 km. with two laps to a circuit on the island of La Santa.

In the women's competition victory has been for the British Alice Hector, who has repeated victory, followed by the two Spanish Sara Perez y Delimoa González who have achieved the second and third positions respectively.

Sara Perez was the first to get out of the water, covering the 1500m swim with a time of 18:04, later Delioma González from Tenerife did it more than 1'30” and British Alice Hector 30” behind her.

The cyclist segment was a recital by Alice, who set the fastest time and reached the T2 first. Second to start running was Sara Perez who made the third best time in the 40km of cycling ... despite going with the conventional road bike, proving to be one of the best Spanish triathletes in the cycling sector. After her more than 4 'arrived Delioma González.

Finally the victory was for Alice Hector, who despite having a considerable advantage did not slow down the pace, going down from 36 'in the final 10km. Sara Perez with a sufficient challenge I can hold the second position even though Delioma cut him almost 3 '.

By teams, Perpetuo Socorro Hospital is placed first in the Canary Series, and Delioma González leads the individual section.

As regards the male competition victory for the French Romain Guillaume, who showed to be in a great moment of form of face to the Ironman of Lanzarote. Second position for Martin Dekker and third for Colin Norris.

The first to leave the water was the Dutchman Martijn Dekker with 17 minutes 38 seconds with Juan Luis Diaz Barroso and Daniel Sánchez Díaz on his heels, but with an advantage of 25 second over Romain Guillaume (6º) that in this segment was not fine. But the second segment arrives, which becomes a fight between the French Guillaume and the Dutch Dekker, where French imposes its pace, making the best time with 58.04, and both entering the T2 together. With its very fast transition, Dekker starts the race on foot with an advantage of 15 meters ahead of Guillaume but 2 km later, the French takes the lead to finally win the victory and enter the goal arch, walking very left over , and greeting the public.

His time was 1 hour 52 minutes 59 seconds. In second position would enter the Dutch Martijn Dekker with 1 h. 53.14 and in third place the British Colin Norris with 1 h. 57.08 There is no doubt that Guillaume showed great preparation for the Ironman where he wants to repeat victory.
