Countdown to Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon

The XXXVI edition of Club La Santa Volcano Triathlon Lanzarote will bring together 6 professional and amateur triathletes of 456 nationalities on the island this Saturday, November 28. The event will also host the Canary Islands Cadet and Youth Triathlon and Paratriathlon Championship.

Club La Santa, organizer of the oldest triathlon event in Spain, has collected some statements from renowned triathletes who are going to participate in it. Tom Ward, Lydia dant y Nicholas Ward Muñoz They are already finalizing their preparation for Saturday.

Tom Ward, personal trainer at PassionFit, has been very excited to participate in this edition of a test that is a challenge for him. "The main objective is to enjoy sharing the race route with so many level triathletes and to discover how my body reacts to greater intensity and short distance"Said the British.

For her part, Lydia Dant pointed out that “eThis will be the first time I have participated in the Volcano Triathlon. I have been in Lanzarote competing and training since IRONMAN 70.3 at the beginning of October ”. The British triathlete also stressed that “this will be my last test of 2021, but 2022 starts strong and I will soon return to the island for 70.3".

Finally, Nicholas Ward Muñoz, who has already participated in this race in previous editions ("12 or 13 times"), stated that he is coming "with great enthusiasm" and highlighted the cycling segment, "without a doubt my favorite and the one that normally decides the first places ”. In addition, looking at 2022, he added that "I want to prepare well for next year's three Club La Santa: the Volcano Triathlon, the IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote and the IRONMAN Lanzarote."

LA SANTA VOLCANO TRIATHLON CLUB 2021

The Volcano Triathlon presents a challenge of maximum demand to participants with Olympic distances: 1,5 kilometers of swimming in the Club La Santa lagoon, 40 kilometers of cycling through the wonderful landscapes of Caleta de Caballo, Soo, until reaching Caleta de Famara, and 10 kilometers of running that will end at the Club La Santa stadium.

The test will offer various classifications for age groups, relays and paratriathletes, and will host the Canary Islands Cadet, Youth and Paratriathlon Triathlon Championship.

The same day the Volcano Kids will take place for the little ones. It will have a swimming segment and a foot race for boys and girls from 7 to 13 years of age and, as a novelty, a cycling segment for young people between 14 to 17 years of age. In total, 117 boys and girls will participate in it.

The event will be held under strict preventive and health measures, included in the COVID-19 protocol approved by the organization and the competent authorities.

After the celebration of the Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote, a month ago, the island maintains the usual pulse as a safe destination and venue for various events and sports events.

The competition mobilizes 1.000 people between participants, volunteers, workers, collaborators, the media and companies directly and indirectly.

The event itself, its dissemination and this movement of people help to position Lanzarote as a destination linked to sports tourism
