New LD Duathlon in Burgos: live the essence of long distance in its purest state

The LD Torreón de los Guzmanes-Caleruega Duathlon will have cut-off times for participants in all segments, also having to complete the test in a maximum time of 5 hours 45 minutes.

 

The 21 of March has been the date chosen for the celebration of the first edition of the Long Distance Duathlon Torreón de los Guzmanes, in Caleruega (Burgos), cradle of Santo Domingo de Guzmán el Bueno.

This new Duathlon has a spectacular historical tour through the unique places of Castilla y León, crossing roads, Roman wineries, Celtiberian forts, Visigoths, as well as two renowned historical villas such as the beautiful host, Caleruega, which will be the epicenter of the test and the passage through the medieval castle in the shape of a dagger Peñaranda de Duero.

 

El Duathlon LD Tower of the Guzmanes-Caleruega  will run in his career on foot for the legendary Roman road Caleruega where runners can find a Roman house or Domus, a Ancestral winery excavated in rock, as well as a path of the wolfholes and medieval castles. The cycling segment will be fast as well as demanding, with the character of a classic cyclist on a tarmac in perfect condition, before ending with a spectacular foot race.

 

The LD Torreón de los Guzmanes-Caleruega Duathlon will have cut-off times for participants in all segments, not giving way to those who have not managed to pass the segment in the established time, also having to complete the test in a maximum time of 5 hours 45 minutes.

The duathletes will face a distance of 10 km in a quick race on foot along the “path of the wolf” passing through a Vulture feeder and the Roman Road from CLVNIA SVLPICIA.

The cycle circuit will consist of 80 kilometers in the form of 8 and a single round. A fast and safe circuit with a spectacular firm to roll, similar to a profile of classic cyclist, that will help the NO DRAFTING.

The test will end with a 20 km race on foot through a 6 km urban circuit through the medieval town of Caleruega, where they will be covered at all times by
the public to face this last segment that will also have a final surprise by having a pass through the OTM cross.

The limit of 200 participants This test will have its own insurance so the registration process will be open to all athletes who dare with this spectacular challenge, both federated and non-federated, while their relatives and / or companions will be able to enjoy the activities that will be carried out in the host locality. 

The Duatlón LD Torreón de los Guzmanes-Caleruega will be the first test of a series of activities among which is planned to include a Mountain Marathon, a vertical race as well as a popular march Caleruega-Barriosuso, the town that provided the genetics to the renowned triathlete Alejandro Santamaría, known as "Piopo"

Registrations will open on February 2 with a promotional price of 35 euros until March 1 that will be increased to € 50 and can be done through the portal youevent

 

The Duatlón LD Torreón de los Guzmanes-Caleruega has the support of the Local Council in a circuit designed by Diego Velazquez, known as "JabaliMan", Recognized Spanish athlete and who was the first triathlete in the world to finish an Ironman with Multiple Sclerosis in the 2004 besides proclaiming himself in the 2011 Long Distance World Champion in his category, who usually trains in these parts of the land of Burgos, who brings in this path to all participants their enthusiasm and passion for this sport.
