Record edition in Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria

This year they have broken the record for elite professionals

This weekend the Anfi Challenge Mogan Gran Canaria, that in this 2023 has established a record achieving the maximum number of professional athletes in its history.

With 450 participants and 70 over professionals, this unique event in Gran Canaria marks the official start of the season for many of the best triathletes in the world.

2 distances

This Saturday, April 22, in its two distances -short and medium- Gran Canaria will be the epicenter of the European triathlon, with a sporting spectacle with the international elite.

Prominent names like Patrick Lange, Sam Laidlow, Aaron Royle, Florian Angert, Pieter Heemeryck, Andy Dreitz, Anne Haug, Alexandra Tondeur, Elisabetta Curridori, Charlene Clavel y Megan MacDonald among others, will compete in this exciting event.

Regarding the Spaniards, the presence of Antonio Benito that has options to the podium.

Rematch for Sam Laidlow and tough competition men

Sam Laidlow number 4 in the world and runner-up in Kona (Ironman Hawaii), seeks revenge after his participation in 2021.

However, it will not be easy since Florian Angert, Number 8 in the world in the PTO Ranking, he arrives on the island with the aim of achieving victory.

On the other hand, we must take into account the Australian Aaron Royle two-time Olympian and Challenge Wales 2022 champion.

In the female modality, number 5 in the world, Anne Haug, is the rival to beat. He arrives at the test after having won the Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote with authority.

It will also be necessary to take into account Alexandra Tondeur, Elisabetta Curridori, Charlene carnation  o megan mcdonald among others.

More than 450 registered of 30 different nationalities

The Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria has more than 450 registered from more than 30 nationalities in its two modalities.

In the short distance, the athletes will compete in a 1,9 km swim, a 40 km bike ride and a 10 km run.

Meanwhile, in the middle distance, the queen test, the participants will face 1,9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and 21 km of running, bringing together the best in the world in this sport.

Schedule

The test will begin on Saturday, April 22 from 08:00 with the men's start.
