The third edition of Long Course Weekend Mallorca will return to Alcudia with some interesting news and improvements between 26 and 28 days in October.
To the recognized multisport format that lasts three daysWhere athletes have to swim on Saturday 3.800 meters, ride a bike on Sunday for 180 kilometers and run a marathon on Monday (42.195 meters), it adds the possibility of completing just half of this distance in the "Half" competition, although without the exclusive privilege of the fourth medal, which only those who complete the full format receive and achieve the recognition of "Legends" in the spectacular final ceremony.
It is expected to overcome the good data of the last edition, with more than a thousand participants, of which the 45% were women, and it will also be possible to take the exit of individually in one, two or even three days, like a swimming trip, a cyclo-touristic race or a foot race, ideal for not only the triathletes who come to this sporting event, but also that it is also open to swimmers, cyclists or runners.
Long Course Weekend Mallorca offers a wide range of distances and options in which to participate every day, and a special recognition in the form of a fourth medal for those athletes capable of taking part daily in the long distance segment (3.800 m of swimming, 180 km of cycling and 42.195 m running), which is the same as Do an Ironman distance triathlon but divide in three days.
The new format "Half Long Course Weekend"It will allow many triathletes to come to this fun and open sporting event as part of their training or as a competition but without so much physical demand.
On Saturday 26 October will be the "Swim Day", where participants can choose between swimming four different crossings: 750, 1.500, 1.900 or 3.800 m that will take place in the calm and crystal clear waters of the Bay of Alcudia.
The next day, on Sunday, the "Bike Day" will be held, where athletes can choose between 2 distances, one of 172 km and another of 86 km, with drafting allowed (peloton). Both routes will run through the Natural Park of Mallorca s'Albufera, Can Picanfort, Santa Margalida, Siney, Llubí, Muro and Sa Pobla. Two circuits will be given to those who prefer the 172km while a single round of the 86km route. Both tests end in Alcudia. It is an authentic competitive test, with closed traffic, and a very attractive and fast route.
The culmination of this festival is Monday 28, with the "Run Day", with four different options to compete: 5, 10, 21 or 42 km. All the tests will run along the beach promenade, next to the sea, in a very flat route with spectacular views.
It is not just an event for triathletes, although these are the ones that can offer the most performance to fight for the finishers classification of the longest distances each day, but also for swimmers, cyclists or runners who want to enjoy the races separately. That is, swimmers can choose one of the four crossings of "Swim Day". Cycling lovers can take advantage of this to become a competitive cyclist with closed traffic. And, finally, runners can compete from an 5k to a marathon.
