Fuente Alamo Triathlon stays in the elite

More from 750 triathletes from across the country will participate in Fuente Alamo next Saturday in the twentieth fourth edition of the National Triathlon, the so-called triathlon of triathletes because of the popularity it has achieved.

 

 

Yesterday took place the presentation of the same with the assistance of Ginés Bermúdez, technical director of the test, María Antonia Conesa, mayor of Fuente Álamo, Juan Fulgencio López, sports councilor, and Ginés Campillo, mayor of Mazarrón, the other municipality involved in the test, since the same will celebrate its swimming sector in the beach of Rihuete.

Many are the novelties of this year. Firstly, the expansion of the number of participants to 750, in which the participation of local 37 and 150 of the Region is noteworthy; secondly, the celebration for the first Psychological Training Days; and finally, the exit that will be made with five Paralympic triathletes.

The cast of athletes who will be on the starting line is tall. In the female elite event they will be, among others, Marina Damlaimcourt, Olympian in London and champion of Spain; Marta Jiménez, national champion of medium distance in 2012; and the young promise Anna Godoy, sub-champion sub-23.

 

In the male field, the winner of the last two years, Jesús Gomar, thirteenth in the Banyoles World Cup and aquathlon national champion, heads a poster in which they also appear Cesc Godoy, two times champion of Spain sub-23 and fourth in Florida last month, and Ramón Ejeda, fifth in the Premiun Cup of China, as well as young promises like Vicente Hernández y Uxio Abuín.

The test will have four exits that will take place at the Playa del Rihuete de Mazarrón. At five o'clock the start will be given to the female category; at the 17.15 hours the male elite start will be given, and ten minutes later, the masculine categories, with the great novelty of paratriathlon and five minutes later, at the 17.30, will close with the male absolute category. The first triathletes will arrive at the finish line around six o'clock in the afternoon, while at eleven o'clock in the evening the final point will be awarded with the awards ceremony in the Ronda de Poniente. The test is sponsored by Estrella de Levante, Hero and Melones El Abuelo, and Boiron and Toro Verde are incorporated, the latter signature becoming the official sponsor of the race and the team prizes.
