We interviewed Jose Almagro prior to his participation the Lisbon Triathlon of medium distance

Next May 4, Lisbon will host the most nationally recognized Medium Distance Triathlon and that also, this year as a novelty, will have the test of "Olympic Plus Distance " that will have 950m swimming - 45 km Bike to finish with 10.5 km race on foot, being one "non-drafting" test

 

 

The Madrid triathlete, Jose Almagro, will participate in this Media Distancia event that attracts more audiences in our country each year.

 

How are you and what are your goals for the 2013 and long-term?

 

After the break at the end of last season little by little I'm feeling more fit, running and swimming I think I'm on the right track although I feel more just on the bike. It will be a matter of throwing hours ... In any case there are still months for the objectives of the year that are: 70.3 of Puerto Rico, ICAN of Malaga, Lisbon and the IM of Florianópolis in Brazil. More long-term I do not pose any sporting goal, just keep working with Arrate so that our 3 Style Triathlon team continues to grow.

 

How did the idea of ​​participating in the first year of the Lisbon Triathlon come up? Why this triathlon?

 

It arises because Antonio del Pino, Director of the Triathlon Magazine offered me to run there and then write an article about the career for the magazine, it was a very positive experience and that is why this year we repeat.

 

Do you see any difference when competing in Spain or attending an international event?

 

Above all, the rivals are harder and sometimes unknown, you do not fight with the usual people and that is always motivating.

 

What is the circuit like, would you recommend it?

 

The circuit is totally recommended, a swim facilitates because there is no swell, a bike circuit of 22km (four laps) practically flat, only with a slope of 1km and closed to traffic and the race on foot is very entertaining, flat and by the area where the Expo was made, with many twists and changes of surface.

 

How do you experience triathlon in Portugal? (environment, city ...)

 

The atmosphere in that race is spectacular, since the previous Thursday there is a great atmosphere of competition, in the hours of warm-up and recognition of circuits there are always many people and the awards ceremony at the Casino de Lisboa is an extra addition for this great competition.
