Gwen Jorgensen disputes this weekend the New York marathon

Next November 6 Sunday is celebrated the New York Marathon, one of the most important marathons in the world and possibly "The mecca" of many runners. The 49.595 year people finishing this test.

 

 

Among all the entrants of this 2016 there will be a person who will have all the attention of the world of triathlon, the current Olympic champion Gwen Jorgensen. The American after winning gold at the Rio Olympic Games announced that she wanted to run the New York Marathon, which she had already decided before the Olympic event.

 

A few years ago she already competed in the 5k competition, which was carried out in parallel and she was delighted with the city ... where she promised to return for a year to run the Marathon. During her preparation, as Jorgensen herself has commented in a press conference prior to the Marathon, she has practically not changed her training, she has continued swimming and training with the bicycle.

 

The only thing that has added more kilometers of running on foot, normally every week ran between 50 and 70km and facing the marathon the load increased from 70 to 80km. One of the reasons for not overdoing the training was because of fear of injury, since she is used to cross training and believed that it would be a risk to drastically change the way she works.  

 

 

At the press conference they also asked him about the possible mark he hopes to make, citing other triathletes who have also run a marathon such as the Portuguese Vanessa Fernandes who made a mark of 2:31:25 or Nicola Spirig who a couple of years ago ran the 42,195km in 2:42:52. Also a few days ago the German Anne Haug ran in Frankfurt in a time of 2:36:13. Faced with this question Gwen did not want to cite any particular brand and above all what has stressed is that "I respect the distance", who does not want to make any predictions, although he has mentioned some training he has done, from 3x7km to 3 rhythms: 30-3: 40 km.

 

If finally on Sunday he manages to run at these rhythms his brand would be between 3: 27: 40 and 3: 34: 42 ... but we will not be the ones who make pools on his brand, because the Olympic champion herself has said that objective is to enjoy d she proves and that the brand will be seen once it's over.
