I Puerto Sevilla: triumphant reception of the triathlon at the Las Delicias Pier

The Andalusians, encouraged by the good weather, threw themselves into the I Puerto de Sevilla Triathlon yesterday. The continuous demand for this sport, which is growing exponentially, was one of the factors that led to the decoration of the Las Delicias Pier and the entire port area of ​​Seville as the setting for an unprecedented event.

Around 1.000 athletes jumped into the waters of the Guadalquivir yesterday to take part in the event, which exceeded all expectations.

In the sprint modality, the victory was taken by the Sevillian Pedro Lumbreras (Diablillos de Rivas). He had to overcome the third position that he obtained when he finished the swimming test. At that time, the leader of the race was the Olympic triathlete Josemi Pérez, who participated in the Olympic Games. from London and came in full pre-season. But the man from Seville never gave up. It was in the bicycle section that Lumbreras reached the head of the race to take first position. Lastly, he played the race on foot, whose distance was five kilometers and in its course, the winner took the opportunity to increase the performance with which he was able to endure until reaching the finish line. Only 56 seconds ahead of Pérez and 1:53 over David Callejón, who completed the podium.

The winner was euphoric after the success: "Very happy, because I am from Seville and winning in your land after nine years dedicated to this is the best," he confessed.
For his part, the consolidated Pérez explained the good moment that this discipline is experiencing: “A spectacular test. Seeing 1.000 people participating is nice. The triathlon is booming and it shows in this race. The enclave of Seville is very beautiful. We are chopped, your competitive vein comes out. It has been good for me to get in shape. Now it's time for a week at the beach to relax and the season begins on October 15. To give it all".  

Meanwhile, in the female category Rocío Espada (Huelva Triathlon) was champion and did so with authority. In second place she crossed the finish line Luisa Marcos (7:57); and in third was Mónica Ortiz, who arrived more than ten minutes behind her.

The winner in supersprint was Ramón Vallés (Trimarbella Bike), with a time of 48:22. In second place came Noel Reyes and third was Francisco Nogales. In the female category, the victory went to María Pérez, ahead of Salomé Aguilera and Beatriz Pérez.

The common denominator of this test was, without a doubt, its follow-up and the notoriety achieved, together with the roots that this sport seeks, which make this I Puerto Sevilla Triathlon a regional and national benchmark.
