The German town of Nordhausen hosted an ICAN series for the first time

In the men's competition the dominating clear of the Half distance of the race (1,9 km swimming, 90km cycling and 21 km of running) was Georg Potrebitsch. 'Little Georg', as he is affectionately known for his size, was the owner and master of the event from the swimming area to his finish at the Nordhausen Theater, with a final time of 3: 57: 44. Of course, he could only surpass in less than a minute Per Bittner (3: 58: 38), while the third place was for Rajko Sichert (4: 13: 42).

The women's race was much more intense, with a beautiful duel for the first place between Mareen Hufe y Katja Konschak The host and winner of several of the ICAN competitions of recent years -in Malaga, Marbella or Mallorca-, was the first of the women to get out of the water. However, in the cycling sector was overtaken by Hufe, who came to enjoy an income of more than three minutes.

However, Konschak wanted to be a prophet in his land and had not said his last word. In fact, in the sector of race on foot and as they were completing the four laps of the route, the difference was decreasing until reaching an exciting last turn with only 24 seconds ahead between the first two.

An income that Konschak canceled in a blink of an eye to reach the winning goal and with a time of 4: 25: 58. The second place was for Mareen Hufe, almost two minutes later (4: 27: 17), while the third place was for Heidi Sessner (4: 32: 34).

After them came an important number of triathletes, received at the finish line by the mayor of Nordhausen, Dr, Klaus Zeh, who by the way had participated on Saturday in a sprint triathlon, as an appetizer of the great competition, being part of a relay next to Katja Konschak.
