Javier Gómez Noya: "The goal of the year is the world title and starting by winning is very important"

The circuit that grants the world title has not been able to start better for Javier Gómez Noya given that he has achieved victory in Auckland, which is his third consecutive in the New Zealand capital.

As expected, the triathlon was decided in the stage on foot, to which 15 triathletes who had grouped in the 40km of cycling arrived together. In swimming there were no big cuts and Javi was already among the first 10, knowing that any minimum cut at the time of riding the bicycles could be decisive

. And in fact it was as in the first of the 8 laps with urban travel riddled with curves and steep slopes was formed a group of 12, in which both Javier and Jontahan Brownlee gave the strongest relief. Behind there was a regrouping of up to 40 triathletes among which were the other Spanish 5 participants. Towards the middle of this phase three of this platoon escaped and came to contact head, but none of them was a priori dangerous for the fight for the podium not being the best specialists on foot. The advantage of the 15 was up to two minutes in the 2ª transition.

Already from the first meters of the third phase, also with curves and steep slopes, Gómez Noya and Jonathan Brownlee (his older brother Alistair did not participate) left the rest behind. Although the Englishman was the one who most threw in the 1ª of the 4 laps of 2'5km to open a gap, from the 2ª it was Javi who set the pace. Towards km 8 came the Spanish thrust with a change of pace that could not be answered by English.

The hole opened up and reached the last kilometer triathlon was sentenced unlike his last bremsstrahlung at the end of the circuit 2013 in London when they played it to the sprint. Thus the Spanish could enjoy the stretch and go smiling and waving to the audience, marking the best part in the third phase.

An audience that likes him as one of their own given the many victories achieved in this country by Javi, including his first world title, there by 2003 in age Sub23: "I am very happy with the victory. The goal of the year is the world title and to start winning is very important. It has gone to the top in the swimming and in the first kilometers of the bike until forming the group of head. Then the arrival of 3 triathletes more has not come well since with them we have taken more advantage over the main squad thanks to Tom Davison has thrown very strong to be a sensational cyclist. On foot I felt great and I was able to give that pull on the last lap that allowed me to reach the finish line solo ". The third step of the podium was for the young Australian Aaron Royle (Under23 World Champion 2012) who played it to the sprint against his countrymen Wilson and Bailie, but already more than 1'30 of Spanish.

From Auckland Gómez Noya will go directly to Cape next to his coach Carlos David Prieto, where they will prepare the next appointment of the circuit that will be played the 26 of April. It is going to be the first time that the World Series has an appointment in the African continent, that is why there is great expectation in a country where triathlon has great repercussion.
