Javier Gómez Noya finishes seventh in the Oceanside with clothes and bike of the 80 years

Noya has participated in this tiratlón with bicycle and clothes of the 80 years, to commemorate the 40º anniversary of the foundation of Specialized.

Taking advantage of his presence in California where he has been testing in the Specialized brand wind tunnel, Javier Gómez Noya has participated in the final appointment of the Life Time Series at Oceanside. It was the end of this test circuit endowed with large cash prizes in which different triathletes participate in the World Series. They are disputed on the same distances as the Olympic, but with the 40km of cycling with classic regulation, which does not allow to go in platoon or relays.

The particularity of the participation of the World Champion (who could not score points for the general having not competed in at least 3 of the circuit appointments) has been that he has done it with bicycle and clothes of the 80 years, to commemorate the 40º anniversary of the foundation of Specialized.

Despite competing with a bike of the 80 years, Noya has managed to finish the cycling phase close to the head.

But in the 10km on foot he has noticed that since the Garmin triathlon in Barcelona on October 5 without training and with long trips (for example, the one he did to see the Hawaii Ironman) hence he was not in the proper form to fight for victory against triathletes who played a lot in Oceanside.

But without a doubt that Gómez Noya has enjoyed this experience: "It was the last race of the year and I did not take it competitively, but as a tribute to the history of Specialized. Swimming and cycling I felt more or less well, but from the first strides I realized that I am no longer in shape, so I ran calm only to finish the race in 7th position. Of course it has been special to do it dressed in a bathing suit and a T-shirt, as was done when I started competing in the late 90s ”.

After this curious way of throwing the curtain on such a brilliant season, Gómez Noya will spend three weeks of well-deserved vacation disconnected from the world of triathlon. It will therefore be at the end of November when I start training little by little for 2015.
