Mario Mola Oro and Fernando Alarza Plata in the Gold Coast World Series

Three of three for a Mario Mola who is insurmountable and full of strength at the beginning of the season, which has reappeared a new triumph in the second round of the ITU Triathlon World Series 2016.

 

The Spanish triathlete adds his tercera consecutive gold medal of the season after the medals previously harvested in Abu Dhabi and the Mooloolaba World Cup. The one of today has been a competition in which the three Spaniards have excelled, becoming protagonists of the test from beginning to end. Next to Mola, Fernando Alarza he has also climbed to the second rung of a disputed podium and Vicente Hernández has reached seventh place.

Once again, Richard Varga set the pace in the swim section, coming out in the lead after completing the corresponding 1500 swims. Fernando Alarza would be the best Spanish classified in this first segment, nine seconds behind the leaders. Behind, Vicente Hernández and Mario Mola they would come out well placed about 15 seconds away.

Although Alarza was hooked up front at the exit of T1, the changes were constant in the group, until finally Hernández and Mola joined at the head of the race. A segment of 40 km of cyclists that produced several episodes of escape, the most notable being Alistair Brownlee, who led alone until the last laps of the sector. It was then that Ben Shaw and Tom Bishop took the reins until the second transition.

Immersed in the race on foot, Mola took little time to excel, distancing himself from the rest of the rivals and climbing positions with Jonathan Brownlee. The youngest of the Yorkshire brothers held a marvelous dispute with the Balearic triathlete, fighting both side by side until the end of the four laps of 2,5 km. First they would overtake Tom Bishop and later Ben Shaw, all calculated to continue advancing towards the finish line.

Next, Alarza struggled in turn with Ryan Bailie for third place at stake. The Talavera de la Reina would overcome the Australian triathlete to go in search of the positions of honor. While Hernandez also remained among the first places.

In the last meters of a final agony Alarza has managed to snatch second place from the English and thus conquer the silver medal of this second stage of the World Series. On the other hand, Hernandez has rounded off a memorable performance of the Spanish team qualifying in seventh position.
