Marisol Casado re-elected President of the ITU

During the XXV Congress of the International Triathlon Union held on Tuesday 23 in October in Auckland, Madrid-born Marisol Casado has been re-elected president of the organization for a new term. Married will face this new cycle of four years with the maximum enthusiasm for continuing to grow a sport in full swing.

During the voting, Casado has obtained the votes of 82 federations, in front of the 33 of his adversary the South Korean Kyung-Sun Yu (to which five void votes have been added). A majority support that certifies its good work and ratifies its management at the head of the international organization.

Marisol Casado, who has always had the support of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI), has also received the love of numerous triathletes who have opted for his re-election during the election campaign.

In the words of José Hidalgo, president of the FETRI, "the majority support obtained by Marisol shows the good work of its management. It is the recognition of four years of work in which Marisol and his team have devoted themselves fully to the development and growth of the ITU. This is demonstrated by the 82 votes that he has achieved in these elections; a clear endorsement of his work and endorsement to continue leading the international triathlon during the coming years ".

Married, member of the IOC from 2010, he has dedicated his life to triathlon. First linked to the FETRI as General Secretariat for twenty years, holding various international positions as treasurer of the European Triathlon Union, to later be its president. A prolific career that elevated her to the ITU presidency for the first time at 2008. Since then, both the organization and the triathlon in general have experienced a stage of enormous growth and success, which augur a very promising future.
