Nice penultimate appointment of Javier Gómez Noya with his team Sartrouville

Compete with Mario Mola, Richard Murray and David Hauss

Javier Gómez Noya will compete on Sunday in Nice (one of the cathedrals of the world triathlon thanks to his Ironman each June) the final of the French club championship with the EC Sartrouville, city of the belt of Paris.

Several of the greats of the world triathlon participate in it, since for example there is the Brownlee brothers Mario Mola, Richard Murray and Fernando Alarza. It is the fifth appointment, which gives more points than the previous ones, all of them in the Sprint distance: 750m of water, 20km cycling, 5km on foot. The classification of each test, in which 16 teams participate in the 1st Division, is made with the smallest sum of places of the three best of each team, which registers five.

It will be the second time he competes this season, as he did in Embrun in August where he was 2nd after Alistair Brownlee, in what was evidently another victory for Sartrouville. The team comfortably leads the classification, having won 3 and finished 2nd in another. It would therefore be rare if they did not achieve the title, something that would be very important since in the two previous seasons they had to settle for 2nd place after Sables D'Oloron.

The stage brings back good memories since in the 2013 final he crossed the finish line in the lead together with Fernando Alarza. For this edition, the Brownlee (who have already ended their season) and the injured Alarza will not line up. But with Mario Mola, Richard Murray and David Hauss, Sartrouville is definitely the favourite.

After returning from his successful tour of Canada and China, Javier has not trained in depth, but with punctual sessions of quality to maintain good form. It takes two weeks dedicated to meet commitments with authorities, press and sponsors. He was also seeing in Madrid the European Cup event held at the Casa de Campo last Sunday: "lThe season is getting long but I have to meet my French team. In Nice the competition is going to be tough, they are races to the fullest from the first stroke with great equality, they look like the World Series. Although I have lowered the piston of the training sessions I will go out as always to give everything to contribute to the victory of the team. This championship has a tremendous prestige in France and almost all the teams have foreigners of the highest level”. After Nice, their last competition in 2014 will be a week later the prestigious and massive Garmin de Barcelona.
