Everything depends on Mario Mola and Flora Duffy to revalidate their world titles last year

This coming Saturday 16 of September will be played Grand final of the World Series of Triathlon in the last appointment of the WTS circuit where Mario Mola part like Ranking leader and depends on himself to get his second world title after the one he won last year. Yesterday we analyzed the different options for the Spaniards where they could get the world title

Mario Mola is presented as the favorite in the event after having achieved victory in fourth events this year (Gold Coast, Yokohama, Hamburg and Edmonton) and starts with number one on the starting list with 3.701 points in the ranking. Yes Mario get a Top 5 in the test will be enough for proclaim champion for second consecutive Year.

The counter is that Mario in the tests that has not entered the podium, has finished far from the fifth place, with a seventh place in Montreal the best result.

On the other hand, we have Javier Gómez Noya, which comes from getting 3 consecutive victories in Montreal, Des Moines and last weekend in the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Chattanoga. This year he has achieved two WTS victories, in Abu Dhabi and Montreal. No longer could he get the one that would be his sixth world title if he wins the test and Mario does not enter the TOP 5.

But let's not forget about Fernando Alarza, that although it has had bad luck in the last tests in which it has competed, it has been shown with a great regularity in the tests that it has managed to finish. Remember that last year Alarza was third in the Grand Final and will fight to get the bronze in the Ranking as long as he is in front of Richard Murray y Kristian Blummenlfet in the test.

I would also have an option to get the title if Mario Mola was not top7 and that Noya does not finish among the first 2 of the test.

Regarding the rest of participation, we will have Vicente Hernández,   Ivan Raña, who announced that I would participate in this test in preparation for the Kona Ironman and Uxío Abuín that debuts this year in the WTS. Triathletes will also be present as Jonathan Brownlee, that even if not options of the title comes to get the victory in the last world series. Remember the agonizing finish that the Brownle brothers played in the Grand Final last year.

Male start list

In the women's event, the big favorite is Flora Duffy, who has been the great dominator of the circuit and who seeks to revalidate the title obtained last year where she depends on herself to achieve it. Carolina Routier He is our only representative in the test.

With 5 victories this year (Yokohama, Leeds, Hamburg, Edmonton and Stockholm) he has already made history by becoming the first woman to win 5 WTS in the same year.

On the other hand, we have  Ashleigh Gentle , second in the Ranking and with 493 points behind Duffy, where this year she has achieved her first victory in a WTS in Montreal as well as 3 more podiums this season (Gold Coast, Hamburg and Stockholm). The New Zealander will also have to be taken into account Andrea Hewitt, who won the first two events of the circuit (Abu Dhabi and Gold Coast.)

Katie Zaferes, Kristen Kasper y Taylor Spivey , Jessica Learmonth o Rachel Klamer other triathletes will be taken into account in the test.
