Ramón Arroyo will participate in the Challenge Salou

"I really want to run Challenge Salou because it means that I can practice my best medicine ... Triathlon!"

Everyone knows Ramón Arroyo, triathlete with multiple sclerosis that was the inspiration for the movie 100 meters starring Dani Rovira Now a new challenge has been raised, its participation in Challenge Salou

When he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis disease, doctors did not recommend him to practice any sport. But he did not give up and pushed Ramón Arroyo to go even further than he could ever imagine.

In 2004, neurologists began testing new forms of treatment for multiple sclerosis patients and suggested physical activity to lessen the disease. “I started with the impossible distance of 100 meters and step by step I became a runner participating in several races of 10 km and half marathonRamon recalls. During his first preparation for the marathon, a friend from his running club suggested that he could try triathlon, since trying 3 different disciplines could benefit him.

"The story was repeated again and I started with the sprint distance ... then the Olympic distance ... half distance and in 2013 participated in his first long distance race in Challenge Barcelona. I wanted to increase the awareness and visibility of the benefits of practicing sports to a disease like MS. And I wanted to show that suffering multiple sclerosis does not necessarily mean sitting in a wheelchairsays Ramon.

For him, triathlon is more than a race. "The most fascinating part is the journey itself. All the prep, the obsessive training sessions. And even though he's an individual, I love the amount of people you hang out with and make friends with throughout the prep and race day ".

He has the perfect mantra to describe his own journey: “!To give up is not an option!”. “We all have limits, but we are so much further than we think possible…motivation, hard work and a good team will encourage you to meet any of your 'incredible' challenges.
