Final straight for the Ironman 70.3 Barcelona

More 2300 triathletes from 54 nationalities will take the start in this new edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Barcelona

 

 

Only a few hours for the release of the second edition of the HOMBRE DE HIERRO 70.3 Barcelona. Calella, the seaside town of the Costa de El Maresme, is the epicenter of this great international sporting event, which welcomes 2.300 triathletes from 54 different nationalities.

 

This edition features 100 professional triathletes, among them world stars of Olympic gold carving Jan Frodeno, Frederik Van Lierde, Eneko Llanos, Camilla Pedersen or Lucy Gossage among others.

In the words of Agustí Pérez, director of the race: "We are facing a great organizational challenge with the premise of guaranteeing safety and offering an experience worthy of the IRONMAN proposal in a city dedicated to Triathlon, such as Calella."

The triathletes will have to face 1.900 meters of swimming in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, 90 kilometers of cycling on inland roads, which pass through the Montseny Natural Park and 21.1 kilometers of foot race between Calella and Pineda de Mar.

The race has a demanding but unique course, rated as one of the toughest and most extraordinary in the world IRONMAN 70.3. 50 slots will be allocated for the 70.3 Ironman 2015 World Championship, which will be held in Zell Am See- Kapprun, Austria.
