We interviewed Ruth Gómez, technical director of Ocean Lava La manga

Ruth has been involved in triathlon for many years and is currently the technical director of the event, so we wanted to interview her to get to know her a little better.

How did the idea of ​​creating Ocean Lava "La manga" come about?

The idea comes from introducing Ocean Lava in the peninsula.

After several conversations with the region of Murcia, he turns to the test without hesitation.

 

You are very linked to the world of triathlon, tell us a little about yourself

I would define myself as a passionate lover of sports in general.

I started with the triathlon 15 years ago, after being a professional basketball player for 12 years, and in the triathlon I found my sports projection, allowing me to express myself and suffer as I like, especially in the long distance.

Ocean Lava La Manga is ideal for those who want to put a finishing touch to the season in long distance, this is the ideal to end the season in October, rest and start the next with a good taste.

I graduated in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences with almost 30 years, after having studied LADE and working in the business world. I gave a total turn to my life, focusing on what I really like: physical activity.

My life is between my own trainings and training clubs, triathletes, children's schools and collaboration in events such as the Ocean Lava de Aranjuez and La Manga.

 

How and when did you join the project?

It was a year ago, when we started to launch the Ocean Lava. They asked me if I wanted to be the Technical Director of the test and advise on triathlon and dissemination issues, and I did not think about it.

There is an excellent organization behind, and I am sure that in a few years Ocean Lava will be in the whole peninsula with consolidated long distance tests.

 

What would you highlight about the test?

The place and the good weather. In addition to being an area with a great fondness for triathlon and outstanding athletes.

 

Can you tell us something new?

The main novelty of this second edition is the inclusion of the Middle Ironman distance.

And the agreement of the Hotel Entremares and the CEOM so that the workers with Intellectual Disability participate actively in the event.

We have also changed the route of the bike, which goes by the highway.

 

You can tell our readers, why would you choose this test to compete?

The test is fast and with good weather. Easy, and no extras added to the distance itself.
