The first "Cross Duathlon" of the new normality is held in Madrid

The Du Cross Villanueva del Pardillo has been deputy with various security measures

This past Sunday, July 12, the Madrid town of Villanueva del Pardillo successfully overcame the return of Du cross in the safest way for everyone.

There was uncertainty about how sports competitions will be with the new regulations and protocols. Numerous measures were put in place to guarantee safety and provide the confidence necessary to compete.

Masks for everyone, gel, safety distance, staggered exits according to categories, provisioning in individual bag, awards ceremony with distance and masks, etc.

A new format

A new format for taking shape. With 15 km of MTB  with flat terrain to go quickly, a narrow climb with a more technical section that made the difference and a quick descent back + 5 km on foot without difficulty on roads with two small mounds and where the heat was already pressing

The victory went to Diego Arguello and Isabel González in the Women's Category.

Diego Arguello absolute winner commented: “I am very happy that we have returned to the competition, as I believed that this year it would not be possible. To say that both the bike circuit and the race circuit were very fun.

And going directly by bike made the strategy change, because there were people who are very strong on the bike and who in a normal duathlon are not usually in front.

Finally, I think that the security measures were adequate. The safety distance could be perfectly maintained and always wearing the mask guaranteed extra protection if this was not possible.”

In the words of Isabel González, female winner, “he liked the bike route a lot and everyone involved in the test; organization, spectators and participants behaved in a very correct way respecting the distances and safety measures making a fun and safe event. "
