The Challenge Puerto Varas triathlon presents its second edition

Three months after the event, Challenge Family organized the presentation of the triathlon that will take place on March 19th 2023 en Puerto Varas (Chile).

The presentation to the local public had been made a month ago in the Los Lagos Region and this Monday afternoon it was the turn of the Metropolitan Region, at Mall Vivo Los Trapenses.

The second edition will have several novelties.

The organization He presented the details of the race: It will be a medium distance triathlon with 1,9 kilometers of swimming, 90 kilometers of cycling and 21 kilometers of running.

The event will deliver Slots for the World Cup in Slovakia (May 21), it will have prizes of 19.000 euros for professionals, it will go through spectacular landscapes and the production will now be in charge of SM Sport.

Loreto Díaz, one of the directors of the Challenge Puerto Varas, pointed out that “the commune offers everything one wants as a triathlete.

The place is beautiful, it has spectacular hotels on the shore of the beach and the circuit to Ensenada is surrounded by incredible vegetation and wonderful volcanoes. The airport is 20 minutes away and has easy access. It will be wonderful".

“In the first edition we had 15 international-level riders and they were all delighted, they all want to come back. We want to make a world-class event that delivers a first-rate experience.

The race will have all levels of security and implementation”, complemented Ariel Abramovich, director of the event.

Through a video, the mayor of Puerto Varas, Tomás Garate, expressed that “I am very happy to invite you to the new version of the Challenge Puerto Varas, which will take place in March.

For us, it is a pride to turn the commune into a sports capital. Challenge Family comes to consolidate this vision, positioning us in the national and international triathlon network. We must give life to this sports festival”.

The event was attended by authorities, sponsors, media and athletes. Regarding the latter, Macarena Salazar, Felipe Van de Wyngard, Pamela Tastets, Nicolás Sáez, Florencia Vásquez, Ian Vargas and Piera Dezerega, among others, attended.

Sam Long will be in the test

As the name of the license establishes, the Challenge Puerto Varas will be a family party. For this reason, the day before the medium distance triathlon, different modalities will be developed:

• Challenge Family Run (1,5K, 3K and 10K)
• Open Water Challenge (500M, 1,5K and 3K)
• Kids and Promotional Triathlon.

The idea is to mobilize all family members.
