Josemi Pérez and María Pujol win the Seville Triathlon

The triathlete, Olympian in London'12, breaks the hegemony of Samer Ali-Saad, who had three wins in a row.

 

 

After three consecutive editions of domain of Samer Ali-Saad, the XVIII Sato Sport Club-Seville Triathlon, second test of Europa FM Circuit, has a new name in his resume. And go name. That of a triathlete in the category of Josemi Pérez, who represented the colors of the Spanish national team in the past Olympic Games of London'12.

 

At the 9h30 in the morning the participants in the Olympic distance (1.500 meters of swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km of running on foot) were thrown into the water with very good temperature. From the Guadalquivir River Pedro Miguel Serrano left in first position, followed by Germán Rodríguez and Camilo Puertas.

 

The favorites climbed the bike to 15 seconds from the head of the race. In the section of cycling those differences were going away to file, and Josemi Perez, Pedro Lumbreras and Samer Ali-Saad took contact with the leaders. An unfortunate puncture left Lumbreras out of combat and eliminated from the fight for victory. In the T2 Samer, Serrano and Raso were the leaders, with Josemi Pérez on their heels.

 

Very soon the conquense was going to hunt them already in the race on foot in the Parque del Alamillo. There, Pérez's experience served him to get up to his head and immediately put himself in first position. Five kilometers from the finish line, he already saw victory in his pocket. So it was. With a time of 1h51'54 '' it was won with the triumph Josemi Pérez, in front of Samer Ali-Saad to 1'09 '' and from Germán Rodríguez to 2'06 ''. That was the podium in the men's category.

 

The winner Josemi Pérez felt that satisfied: "A hard race, with a group that was swimming and cycling we all got together. In the running race I was able to put a strong rhythm and take the second part relaxed. Happy, I really enjoyed the race. Time has respected us in a very well organized test. Being one of the most numerous triathlons in Spain is not won in a day and says a lot about the good work that the Andalusian Triathlon Federation is doing ".

 

In the female category, victory took her María Pujol, who returned to compete at home after a long injury. The winner of 2012 dominated the test from start to finish, leaving each of the transitions in the lead. The Sevillian pulled in the goal 3'40 '' to Granada Elena Aguilar, winner of the past Desafío Doñana. The podium completed Rocío Molas.

 

María Pujol, who has been injured for 15 months, commented at the finish: "I had been in the dry dock for a long time, without enjoying the triathlon, and I had a great time. I missed a bit of spark, but little by little I have been recovering to get hooked with the head of the race. Winning the Duathlon and Triathlon I have justified the season. Now keep training and enjoying it. "

 

The day was completed, in addition to the Olympic modality, with the sprint triathlon, the super sprint, the relays and the equality triathlon. An intense morning in which the Guadalquivir River, Tournament, the American Garden and the Alamillo Park have been full of triathletes and audiences who have given them their full encouragement. In addition, a multitude of activities at the finish line has made the wait more bearable to the family and friends of the triathletes.
