Bilbao Triathlon returns

The date will be the next October 5, a novelty for triathlons, and the opening of registrations on Tuesday 12 in February

El Bilbao Triathlon returns with the same identity that has led him to success during his past 7 editions. The test of Middle distance accompanied by one of Olympic Distance will make the appointment an authentic sports party around the Triathlon.

After its suspension in 2018 yrlay the foundations of the test, the organization, thanks to the support and collaboration of Bilbao City Council and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, institutions involved in the project, present a new edition full of new features.

The main change is the new date. October is a new era for triathlons in the northern zone, where the triathlon season focuses more on the Mediterranean area, but which ensures a more favorable climate for a test of these characteristics. After the summer months, the water of the estuary will be about 4ºC warmer than on the usual mid / late May date. The weather also improves in the first week of October with a history that indicates that in 3 of each 4 days the 18ºC are exceeded.

Another novelty is the change of scenery. In this edition, the boxes will be located at the Ramón de La Sota quay, next to the Bilbao Maritime Museum. It will be a unique box for the convenience of the participants and spectators who attend to see the event.

A NEW BILBAO FOR THE TRIATHLON

This change of location is linked to a redesign of the circuits. The swimming sector rediscovers once again the "new Bilbao", with an online tour of the newly opened Zorrozaurre channel. As it does 8 years ago, the Bilbao Triathlon reopens a new sports leisure space in the city. After the important works carried out in the estuary, the last samples of the analysis of water in this area are in accordance with the regulations of the Spanish and Basque Federation of Triathlon.

NEW BIKE CIRCUIT

The bike circuit also presents novelties, although it maintains its main hallmarks. It will be a travel of 42 km per lap, where the mythical port of El Vivero will continue to rise, but it will have less accumulated unevenness than the original circuit. These modifications will provide more safety to the cycle and will involve fewer traffic conditions.

The circuit on foot will continue to be in the surroundings of the promenade along the estuary, passing through the most emblematic enclaves of the city to reach the goal that will be placed in the center of the city.

The opening of registrations will be on Tuesday 12 day of February at the 12h in both the half and Olympic categories through the event website. This year, along with the federated test of each distance there will be an open test that will welcome the participation of the people who have not obtained their federal license.
