Ainhoa ​​Murua and Carolina Routier Top 20 at the Palamós Triathlon World Cup

The female elite has been in charge of inaugurating the first edition of the Triathlon World Cup which has been held in Palamos this Sunday. Victory for the American Katie Hursey, silver for the Italian Annamaria Mazzetti and bronze medal for Tamsyn Moana-Veale

 

 

Ainhoa ​​Murua y Carolina Routier  have entered the Top-20 of the competition after making an outstanding performance. The Gipuzkoan was the first Spanish to complete the circuit, reaching 15th position, and was followed by local triathlete Routier in 16th place. While María Ortega has finished 25th; Marta Jiménez, 26th; Anna Godoy, 33rd, Tamara Gómez, 34th and Miriam Casillas, 35ª.

The British Lucy Hall and Carolina Routier have led the two laps of the swimming segment by the Platja Gran in Girona. Behind and a few seconds, Natalie Milne, Erin Jones and Gaia Peron.

Along with the American Katie Hursey, Routier, Hall, Jones and Milne have left the T1 in the lead, to then face the 39.2 km cyclists for a demanding and technical course, which incorporated turns of 90º, which has been deforested by the vicinity of the city.

Behind them, a large pursuit squad that included Ainhoa ​​Murua and the Italian Annamaria Mazzetti, struggled to reduce differences. Even so, the leaders have been extending distances throughout the seven laps of the sector, to reach the T2 with an advantage of more than one minute and 20 seconds.

Starting the race segment on foot, Hursey has made a strong change of pace, leaving behind the rest to go alone to victory. For its part, the Routier banyolina has maintained the third place during the first two vuletas of the section in a great performance. Finally, Hursey has entered the finish line with a comfortable advantage of 47 seconds. While the Italian Mazzetti achieved the silver, followed just two seconds by Tamsyn Moana-Veale, who has been awarded the bronze medal.
