Chronicle: Claudia Luna and Emilio Martín Spanish Champions of Duathlon 2015

Impressive victories lived this Saturday 11 of April in Soria with motic of the dispute of Spanish Championship of Duatlón.The streets of Soria were filled with a dedicated public that enjoyed the record number of participants in a day dedicated entirely to the duathlon, and in which Claudia Luna was crowned for the first time champion of Spain and Emilio Martín continued the path initiated in this same city in 2011 to return to conquer the national title.

The young Claudia Luna stood at the head of the test along with Sonia Bejarano from the first leg of the race on foot. A hard and winding circuit disputed sprint distance, which toured the park of the Alameda de Cervantes and furrowed the central streets of the city of poets. After a very close third, Luna would enter the T2 alone, with Bejarano behind and everything to decide in the final stretch of the race. However, the international athlete could not continue in the field due to an untimely muscle injury. While Luna took the opportunity to leave alone and outlined on the horizon his first triumph in absolute category. The silver would fall into the hands of Margarita Vic García y Laura Gomez He completed the podium in third place.

The male elite had an absolute protagonist from beginning to end: Emilio Martín. Possessor of several national titles of the specialty, champion of the game, runner-up and most recently bronze medal in the World Championship held at 2014 in Pontevedra, Martin was presented in the appointment as one of the favorites to the final triumph. The athlete of the CD Los Triatletines, would fulfill all the predictions from the first compass of the race. Claro dominator, Martín made the cycling segment alone to later access the T2 with a clear advantage over the rest. Thus the Andalusian athlete could enjoy the last segment of the race after a titanic competition to proclaim himself champion of Spain. The runner-up would be for Sergio Lorenzo and the bronze medal for Oier Ariznabarreta.

 

Previously, Cecilia Santamaría she had taken over the women's title in the junior category. The athlete of the Cidade de Lugo Fluvial dominated from start to finish. Santamaría was the first to complete the initial 5 km of the race on foot, keeping his advantage during the cycling segment, and on his way out of the T1 er pursued by Noelia Juan Pastor and Carmen Gómez. During the cyclist stage it would maintain the harvested advantage, for after the finals 2,5 km of race to proclaim itself campoena of Spain of the modality. Santamaría was accompanied on the podium by the duo of Ferrol Triathlon, Carmen Gómez and Inés Cortés.

In boys, Ignacio González climbed to the top of the podium, demonstrating a great level in his return to the national competition and leaving behind the injuries that dragged the last tempdoada. The second place went to Roberto Sánchez Mantecón and the third to Moisés Perea.

While in the female cadet competition Ana Carvajal of the Ferrol Triathlon took the victory, followed on the podium by her team mate Sharon Belén García and Lucía Salafranca (Club Triatlón Las Rozas); silver and bronze respectively. In the men's event, Alberto Gonzalez (Arcade Inforhouse Santiago) won with a very tight final, in which emotion was served with Javier Lluch (CT Hurricane Valencia) and Jaime Bonilla (CT Dialbillos de Rivas) crossing the line of goal just two seconds away.
