ITU announces the classification system for RIO 2016

The International Triathlon Federation has just published the qualification system for the RIO 2016 Olympic Games.

 

The "Road To Rio"15 May 2014 will officially start at the Yokoyama World Triathlon Series, giving athletes the opportunity to get a place for the Olympics for 2 years, concluding the qualification period on May 15, 2016.

 

 

A total of 55 men and 55 women They will fight for gold in RIO, where the 8 best countries of the NOC (National Olympic Committee) will have 3 places. The rest of NOCs will only choose two places.

 

The triathletes selected by the National Olympic Committee who wish to participate in the Rio JJOO  They will have to meet one of the following requirements:

 

  • Earning your spot through ITU Continental Qualifying Events
  • Earning your seat through the 2015 ITU World Qualifying Events
  • Being among the top 140 of the Olympic Qualification list
  • Being among the first 140 of the ITU World Triathlon Series Ranking 2015
  • Being among the first 140 of the ITU Points List
