Miriam Casillas wins in Larache. Jesus Gomar Silver and David Castro Bronze.

This past Sunday the Africa Cup of Sprint Triathlon was celebrated in the Moroccan town of Larache, where the Spaniards have had a great performance with 3 medals.

 

 

Miriam Casillas, which is going through a great moment this season with podiums in national and international competitions - like the Subchampionship of the World of Duathlon Sub23 obtained recently in Pontevedra-, rose with the triumph after remaining in the first places throughout the competition.

 

Extremadura marked the best record in the cycling sector and also made a powerful run on foot, to finally get the victory with a final time of 01: 08: 01. A second 52 of the Spanish came, Anel Radford of the South African Republic. While the third step of the podium was reserved for the French  Julie Nivoix. Paula Garcia (5ª), Sara Bonilla (7ª), Ana MAriblanca (8ª) and Laura Gómez (10ª) was the rest of the Spanish participation.

 

In the male category Jacob Birtwhistle got the victory followed by the Spanish Jesús Gomar y David Castro completing a splendid performance. In a tight final, Gomar took the silver medal, crossing the finish line with four seconds ahead of Castro. They both wore during the course of the entire circuit consisting of 750 m swimming on the Lukus River, followed by a segment cycling 20 km, to conclude with a stretch of walking race of 5 km.
