Gómez Noya: "There was no point in continuing because he could have hurt me more"

Javier Gómez Noya had to retire in the race on foot due to pain in the gluteus.

The 2015 debut of Javier Gómez Noya has not been good given that he has left the Challenge Dubai in the middle of the 21km walk phase to the pass next to the goal, weighed down by pain in a glute.

Something that was preventing him from performing at the top and that had already taken him away from the top positions. A wise decision considering that the first round of the World Series is the 7 Saturday in March in Abu Dhabi over the Sprint distance.

Gómez Noya was in the leading group in the swimming phase and during the first kilometers of cycling, with regulation that does not allow to go to the wheel, remained close to the lead. Until an unexpected pain arose that made him lose more time than desired and that was going to prevent him from running at the pace he expected: “It was a disappointment not to be able to finish, but the pain that started during the cycling was even worse running. There was no point in continuing because it could have injured me more ”.

Both Javier and his coach Carlos David Prieto will travel to Abu Dhabi following the planned plan and the decision to compete will be made there depending on the evolution of the pain.
