Interview with Víctor del Corral after confirming his presence at the Isostar Extreme Man Narbonne

The next September 08 ISOSTAR EXTREME MAN will land at his third appointment and penultimate appointment of this 2013 in the town of Narbonne, a city located on the French coast and only 2 hours from Barcelona.

Thanks to its proximity to the Spanish border, this test has already attracted the attention of many triathletes faithful to the EM events as well as others who want to try this distance and are looking for a spectacular circuit, not overcrowded, without drafting at the same time with an organization deluxe.

Victor del Corral, who achieved the second place on the podium in the first edition at the 2012, has already confirmed his presence at this event. A triathlete from other disciplines such as Duathlon, Duathlon Cros and Triathlon Cros, where he has achieved several titles internationally, and with few years of experience in the Elite of the medium and long distance where he has already achieved several podiums in this discipline, has been consolidated today as a reference athlete in the world of Triathlon.

How do you see the growth in the number of participants in medium and long distance tests? What do you think is attractive?

The growth in recent years has been spectacular, no doubt the long distance has many factors that make it attractive for a large number of triathletes and that ends up hooking them. Although the hours necessary to prepare a test of these characteristics are more than those that may be needed for a shorter test, the type of training is more bearable and grateful; the suffering during the test is also different from that of a shorter test, it is not so explosive, they are not so agonic, a fact that makes them more grateful.

And these are some of the factors that make triathletes get hooked to the long distance, but the most important is the challenge of preparing and overcoming the distance one only, by itself, without external aids, without drafting, ... essence of long distance.

In which discipline do you find yourself best - duathlon, crossover triathlon and / or MD / LD tests - with respect to your feelings in race and performance?

In which the best preparation-performance relationship with me is in cross triathlon, they are tests that I love but that I practically do not prepare and that usually work out to me more or less well.

Anyway my passion is long distance, distance IM, is the one I like most of all and it is also where I think maybe I still have more room for improvement.

Why ISOSTAR EXTREME MAN NARBONNE? Do you think there is a hallmark for "Extreme Man"? What would you highlight?

Although I believe that the premises can be similar among all the franchises, I think that the overcrowding of the Extreme Man tests makes the deal with the participants much closer and that all the triathletes are delighted.

What is your opinion about the Narbonne circuit? Would you recommend this event?

I recommend it 100%, in fact if I return this year to compete in Narbonne, that's why! Narbonne has the charm of a coastal city that is also fortunate to have a mountainous area just behind it, where riding a bike while watching the sea is a real luxury.
