More than 1.500 triathletes at the IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella

The city of Marbella is preparing today to welcome more than 1.500 triathletes at the IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella, an event that marks the start of the IRONMAN calendar in the Iberian Peninsula.

Participants will complete a 1,9km swim, 90km bike ride and a half marathon (21,1km) on the waterfront.

The official presentation of the event took place at the Hard Rock Marbella Hotel, with the presence of local authorities and representatives of The IRONMAN Group, as well as elite triathletes who will compete next Sunday.

Marbella aspires to host the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in 2025

The Marbella Town Hall works together with IRONMAN Spain to present its candidacy to host the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in 2025. The proposal has the support of the Junta de Andalucía and the Provincial Council.

Elite triathletes ready to compete in Marbella

Among the favorites to take the victory in the women's category are the British Nikki Bartlett last year's champion, and the Spanish Laura Gomez.

In the male category, the Germans stand out Andreas Dreitz y Dominik Sowieja, the Spanish Jordi Montravetoh the french Antony Costes.

International participation and TriClubs IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship

El 32% of those registered in the IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella are Spanish athletes, while the rest come from different countries, such as the United Kingdom, Belgium and France.

In addition, this edition will be the TriClubs IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship, with the participation of more than 220 triathlon clubs.

Marbella dresses up to receive triathletes and offer them a high-level sports show in a privileged environment.
