3.500 triathletes in the Valencia Triathlon

The event has brought together 3.500 athletes in a weekend devoted entirely to popular triathlon

 

 

Valencia Triathlon yesterday put the finishing touch to its fifth edition with the celebration of the test in Olympic distance. after one first day in which the most popular distances and modalities were disputed (Women's Triathlon, Supersprint, Sprint and Paratriathlon), the city has dawned ready to enjoy the spectacle that the 1.700 athletes who have taken the Royal Navy Juan Carlos I have played. .

 

With the outputs programmed between the 07: 30 h. and the 10: 00 h, the triathletes have faced a morning, marked by the intense heat, in which they have completed 1.500 meters of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and 10 kilometers of running. One more year, the course of the swim has been in a single lap in the calm waters of the dock, before facing the 40 km of cycling, in 4 laps, by a track that took as a base the Formula 1 circuit and arrived to the City of Arts and Sciences.

 

Finally, the race on foot, of 10 km in 3 turns, has been completed in the Marina Real itself before accessing the emblematic goal line installed in the Veles e Vents building.

 

Aguayo and Muñoz, winners in the fifth anniversary

triathlete Emilio Aguayo, from CDM Moncada, has achieved a long-awaited victory by stopping the clock at 2:00:39. The Valencian, who won the Sprint distance last year, has fulfilled his desire to participate and win in Olympic distance and at home today: “This victory is very important to me, since being at home, and not having been able to attend to the Olympic in previous editions, in this one I did not want to miss. Being able to win in front of all my friends, family and colleagues has been the icing on the cake ”.

 

In addition, he pointed out that, "for me this fifth edition has been the best with an 10 organization. It is evident that they listen to the criticism and suggestions of the athletes and they are improving year after year ".

 

Behind, his club mate Diego Robles, who has achieved a deserved second place in a time of 2: 04: 40, and third Fernando Martínez, of the Sys Lab, in 2: 07: 16.

 

In the women's category, the winner was Miriam Muñoz, who "was facing the event with great enthusiasm, being my first triathlon after a major injury" that she suffered last April. In a time of 2: 23: 53, the triathlete of the Sys Lab was "very happy with the victory", which she has dedicated to her family and friends. Also, in his first participation in Valencia Triathlon, Muñoz wanted to take the opportunity to highlight "the good atmosphere that was experienced in the event, with people cheering during the tour", as well as "the great participation, not only experienced triathletes , but of many popular sportsmen "who have been part of the competition at different distances.

 

The second position was for Belén García (2: 30: 08), Club Tri-Val, followed by Marta Fernández de Castro (02: 30: 28), Team 3FDC.
