Fernando Alarza proclaims himself sub-champion of the world sub23

Fernando Alarza has been proclaimed for the second consecutive year in the Sub23 World Triathlon sub-champion in a disputed sprint.

The Spanish has remained in the first places since the initial moments of the competition, held on Thursday afternoon at the emblematic Hyde Park of London. Along with him, the other two Spaniards in the field have also made great performances in the British capital.

The competition has been developed in the same scenario which hosted the Olympic Games of London in 2012, with more than 60 triathletes taking the start from the pontoon of the lake Zigzag to face the 1.5 km of swimming. Alarza He came third from the water in the head group towards the T1, where a group of some 21 triathletes would put in front of the 40 km cyclists.

Behind them, Abuín y Hernández They pulled the pursuer platoon to link with the head group. Although they did not manage to hunt the leaders, in the last laps on the bike they would cut distances until entering the T2 with little more than a minute of disadvantage and going down.

Ahead the pace was trepidante in the race on foot, with the talaverano as an outstanding protagonist setting the pace. Little by little the initial group of 21 was reduced until becoming a pulse between Alarza, Wilson, Steinwandter, I. Polyanskiy and Le Corriere, two laps to go.

Finally and just as it happened in Auckland a year ago, the title has been decided in a vibrant final sprint, with the Frenchman Le Corre standing in front of Alarza y Wilson, a few meters from the finish line. After him, the talaverano took the money, entering only four seconds of Le Run. While the Australian Wilson the bronze medal was hung.

From behind, Galician Abuín He has made a splendid race segment on foot and achieved a brilliant seventh place. As long as Hernández It also advanced positions in the segment, culminating its participation 18º and entering the Top-20.

About the Galician Abuín, he highlighted his enormous potential affirming that "After today's brilliant Top-8, I hope that Uxío believes he can be a world-class triathlete".
