Antonio Benito second in IRONMAN 70.3 Fortaleza

Today, the IRONMAN 70.3 Strength in the city of Fortaleza, Brazil, where victory has gone to Marten Van Riel and Spanish Antonio Benito has been second. 

The test was held under the 70.3 format, a distance that includes 1.9 km of swimming, 90 km of cycling and 21.1 km of running. 

 Triathletes of the caliber of Antonio Benito, Reinaldo Colucci, Igor Amorelli, Dylan Magnien and Marten Van Riel participated in the event. 

The first to come out of the water was Marten Van Riel, followed by a chasing group more than two minutes away, which included Antonio Benito along with the Brazilians Danilo Pimentel and Reinaldo Colucci. 

In the 90 kilometer cycling segment, Marten Van Riel was the first to reach T2, followed by a group more than six minutes away, led by Antonio Benito. 

In the 21.1 kilometer running race, Antonio Benito showed an exceptional performance, marking the best partial and cutting time from the leader, although it was not enough to catch up with Van Riel. 

Finally, the victory went to Marten Van Riel (3:43:58) followed by Antonio Benito (3:47:19) and André Lopes (3:50:48).  

The fourth and fifth classified were Santiago Asenco and Danilo Pimentel, respectively.

In the women's category of the IRONMAN 70.3 Fortaleza, the victory went to Ellie Salthouse with a time of 4: 16: 34.
