Paula García Godín and Nan Oliveras are proclaimed Spanish Sprint Triathlon Champions

Yesterday the Tarragona town of Altafulla has crowned two spectacular Paula García Godín and Nan Oliveras as Spanish Sprint Triathlon champions in elite category.

 

 

Neither the threatening clouds, nor the wind, managed to stop the triathletes on their way to glory in one of the most exciting competitions of the Spanish Triathlon Federation calendar. All this has gone through a dream scenario, which will host the triathlon test of the next 2017 Mediterranean Games.

 

In the elite female competition, Anna Godoy He demonstrated his great level in the water, coming out in first position after the 750 m swim dispute. Godoy remained in the lead at the beginning of the cycling section, preserving the income obtained during swimming at this beginning of the segment.

 

Arrived at the T2, the New Zealander Anneke Forrest Jenkins led the contest, imposing her strong stride on the rest of rivals. Nobody could beat the triathlete of the Cidade de Lugo Fluvial on their way to the home straight, and a splendid Jenkins finally took the victory in the final classification.

 

While Paula García Godín (CT Diablillos de Rivas) in a brilliant last sector of career on foot, regained positions to be placed second, being the first Spanish to cross the finish line to become the champion of Spain of the 2014 edition of the modality.

 

Miriam Casillas, who has maintained a very regular rhythm during the course of the competition, has achieved the silver medal at the same time that she obtained the title of U23 champion. For her part, Eva Ledesma has been awarded the bronze medal.

 

Casillas, Triathlete of the Triathlon Ferrol has been accompanied on the podium by Xisca Tous (CT Diablillos de Rivas) second classified, and Anna Godoy (Cidade de Lugo Fluvial) has reached the third place. By clubs, the triumph was for the CT Diablillos de Rivas, followed in second position by the Fasttriathlon Club and in third place by the Saltoki Trikideak.

 

Next came the turn for the male elite, in which the swimming segment ended Emilio Aguayo He was in the lead in the first moments of the cycling sector, setting the pace and trying to get away from the rest of the rivals. However, the rest of the triathletes prevented this extreme and a large front squad was formed.

 

Mediated the cycling sector a group of 16 triathletes, in which circulated several of the favorites to the final triumph as the own Aguayo, Ricardo Hernández, Nan Oliveras, stayed ahead of the competition circulating at a very fast pace by the arduous and technical cyclist segment. The situation would remain unchanged until the conclusion of the sector, with the triathletes arriving very evenly to then face the final stretch of two laps of running on foot that ran part of the stunning seafront of the town.

 

After passing through the second transition, Jordi García, Ricardo Hernández and Nan Oliveras came out in the lead achieving a small advantage over the rest. However, Benito pressed very hard behind, and after the first kilometer was placed in front, along with Oliveras and Hernandez.

 

Nan Oliveras of AD Tri-Penta Terras de Lugo would prove to be the strongest, crossing the finish line in first position to become champion of Spain with a final time of 56 minutes and 14 seconds. While Luis Miguel Sánchez Rosado (Club Tri-Val Triathlon Valdemoro) has achieved the runner-up 16 seconds behind the winner, and Lucas Mola (brother of Mario Mola) has hung the bronze medal.

 

Likewise, the winner of the reigning race has also been awarded the title in male sub23 category. Next to Oliveras, the Sub23 podium was completed by Lucas Mola and his teammate, the Canary Ricardo Hernández; second and third respectively. While the Fasttriathlon has achieved victory for men's clubs. While the Tri-Val Triathlon Club Valdemoro has obtained the second place and the Nutrifitness Triathlon Albacete has risen to the third step of the podium.
