600 duathletes participate in the categories of Sprint Age Group and Short in the Duathlon Spain Championship

The nearly 600 participants in the Age Group categories in sprint and short distance have filled the surroundings of the Niemeyer Center in Avilés with excitement, effort and pride, the epicenter these days of one of the most important events in the calendar of competitions of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI).
An event that on this occasion has been organized by the Asturian Triathlon Federation, a small federation that is growing day by day and is closely linked to the development of high-level sporting events. A competition that has also had the collaboration of the General Directorate of Sports and the Municipal Sports Foundation of Avilés.
The 317 duathletes that left in Age Groups in sprint distance, covered a first sector of 5 km of running, followed by 18 km cyclists, to finish with another 2,5 km of race. Both the foot race and the cycling segment have been developed around the Paseo de la Ría. The competition in sprint distance has granted direct places for the Duathlon World Championship in sprint mode, which will be held in the Galician municipality of Pontevedra between 31 in May and 1 in June.
While the competition disputed in short distance counted with the participation of 251 participants. The race took place in a first segment of 10 km of the race, to continue with 36 km cyclists and they concluded with 5 km of the race on foot.
