Caroline and Marc Livesey lead the Long Course Weekend Mallorca 2018 after the day of swimming

Today the first day of the Long Course Weekend Mallorca 2018 was celebrated with the "Swim Day" 

The Bay of Alcudia has once again been the scene of the first day of the Long Course Weekend Mallorca 2018 with the "Swim Day", Swimming in open water. The British marriage formed by Caroline and Marc Livesey they are the first leaders of the queen test of the competition (3.800 meters of swimming today, 180 km of cycling tomorrow Sunday and 42 km of running race on Monday) after the starting gun that was given today.

The fastest swimmers on the 3.800 meters at the finish located on the sand of the spectacular Alcúdia beach have been Joanna Desmond in the female category and Gary Jarvis in the masculine, although they do not dispute the final classification of the Long Course Weekend on the complete distance. In parallel, 1.900, 1.500 and 750 meters have also been held throughout the morning.

Two of the favorites for the final victory on Monday, the British too Lucy Gossage y Tom Vickery, Winners in 2017, have concluded in ssecond and third position, respectively. The classification is very open after swimming with differences of just three minutes between the first. The first Spaniards are the Madrid-born Mónica Batán and Rodrigo Hernández. Between the three days of competition there are already registered more than 1.200 participants that come from 20 different countries.

Due to the forecast of heavy rains for this afternoon the Kids Beach Run for children has been canceled.

The Long Course Weekend Mallorca 2018 is a new and open sporting event that is held from Saturday until Monday 29 in October. There are many distances and options in which to participate each day, and a special recognition in the form of a fourth medal for those athletes capable of taking part daily in the long distance segment that gives its name to the competition: 3.800 m of swimming, 180 km of cycling and 42.195 m running.

Tomorrow is the "Bike Day" that starts the 8h30 with a race of 86 or 172km, with the roads closed to traffic and with the option to go in the peloton. To end the weekend, Monday is the "Run Day" from the 8h45, in which athletes can choose between running 5, 10, 21 or 42 km. Only the finishers of the three days in the greater distances will be able to choose to the fourth medal that grants them the status of "Legends" or "finishers" of the Long Course Weekend Mallorca 2018.

Between the three days of competition there are already registered more than 1.200 participants, of which 600 arrive from Great Britain, some 350 Spanish and 150 Germans, among others 20 nationalities. Among the most significant statistical data is that of the highest female participation, the largest in Spain in sporting events such as triathlon, cycling or running, with a total of one 41% of women. 

Bike Day

Tomorrow, Sunday, "Bike Day" is celebrated, where athletes can choose between 2 distances, one of 172 km and another of 86 km, with drafting allowed (peloton). Both routes will run through the Natural Park of Mallorca s'Albufera, Can Picanfort, Santa Margalida, Siney, Llubí, Muro and Sa Pobla. Two circuits will be given to those who prefer the 172km while a single round of the 86km route. Both tests end in Alcudia. Is a authentic competitive test, with the tclosed traffic, and a very attractive and fast route.
