Cesc Godoy Top-10 at the Triathlon World Cup in Tiszaújváros

Godoy entered the ninth position of the men's final classification after standing out during an intense and vibrant competition held in the emblematic city of northern Hungary.

Once again, the Barcelona triathlete completed the swimming sector in the first positions, and was preparing to make the eight laps of the cycling sector in the head platoon, which in these early stages had an advantage superior to the second 25 and was formed by Akos Vanek, Dmitry Polyanskiy, Ben Kanute, Richard Varga and Igor Polyanskiy. Already on the last lap of the cycling tour, the first pursuer group reached and merged with the leaders, giving way to a massive entry into the T2.

After passing through the pits, Cesc began the last sector of 5 km of running on foot very well placed in the front. Godoy would remain among the top positions, starring in an arduous battle for the podium.

In a splendid final, the Barcelona began the last lap in the lead with many options to access the podium in a tough fight with nine other triathletes. However, a stop in the penalty box to 200 m of the finish line left Godoy at the gates of the podium, after a great exhibition.

Thus and in a tight final, the local triathlete Akos Vanek was imposed with a second advantage over the silver medal, Rostyslav Pevtsov. While his compatriot, the Hungarian Gabor Faldum signed the bronze medal, entering just two seconds from Vanek.

Previously in the women's competition, Carolina Routier had once again stood out in the swimming segment, coming third out of the water after completing the 750 m of this initial segment. During the 20 km cyclists, Routier remained well positioned in the head group of 12 triathletes. The situation would remain unchanged throughout the eight laps of the segment, with the leaders obtaining a margin of 15 seconds over their pursuers.

After a rapid transition, the Banyoles triathlete started the running sector located between the first contenders. However, the strong heat, coupled with the great wear made during the first two segments, took their toll on Routier, who little by little was being relegated from the first places. Finally, Carolina Routier was classified in 24ª position.

The victory would be for Rachel Klamer. The Dutchman was accompanied on the podium by the local triathlete and sister of the winner of the men's category, Margit Vanek and the Brazilian Pamela Oliveira; second and third respectively.
