CHALLENGE BARCELONA-MARESME, reaches the record number of 1.700 participants

Challenge Barcelona-Maresme, presented the news of the Half Challenge event that will be held next Sunday 27 May in Calella.

The event, chaired by the Secretary General for Sports, Mr. Ivan Tibau, highlighted the prestige of the event at an international level as well as its benefits, on the Maresme region.

Miquel Blanchart, current European long distance champion who heads the range of stars at Half is one of the favorites to win this edition.

Recently distinguished by the Spanish Triathlon Federation, as the best Triathlon in Spain in 2010-2011 - presented the news of the Half Challenge Barcelona-Maresme test that will be held next Sunday, May 27 in Calella.

The event chaired by the Secretary General for Sports, Ivan Tibau, in the company of the deputy for Sports D .. Josep Salom, the president of the Maresme County Council, Mr. Miguel Ángel Martínez, the Mayor of Calella, Mrs. Montserrat Candini, the director of the Challenge, Mr. Agustín Pérez and the European long distance champion triathlete Miquel Blanchart, highlighted the recognition of the event both at a sporting and organizational level.

The mayor Montserrat Candini, highlighted that this year's edition supports the Marathon for Poverty with the organization of different events to raise funds: thus starting on Thursday 24th in the surroundings of the Challenge Expo, there will be a stand destined to selling t-shirts.

On Saturday the 26th in the Kid's Challenge, each child will give a symbolic € 1 in exchange for a shirt specially edited for the Marathon for Poverty, and on Sunday 27 there will be two points of sale of solidarity sausage.

On the other hand, a special edition has been made to support the Poverty Marathon, of the finish line tape.

On the part of the highest authorities, the important impact that the test has on its sporting and also economic base was collected.

The deputy Mr. Josep Salom, recalled that sports tourism in Barcelona represents 3% of GDP, a figure to keep in mind in the current situation.

The Half-Challenge Barcelona-Maresme can boast this year of having a luxury poster.

Miquel Blanchart, current European long distance champion is the favorite of the fourth edition, he is accompanied by high-level athletes such as: Finnish JarmoHast, second in the LD European Championship in Tampere 2011, Raúl Amatriain, current Spanish LD champion and MD and José Luis Cano.
