Challenge Salou a great option to start your 2019 season

The next 7 in April will be held a new edition of the Challenge Salou, an ideal test to start the year 

 Year to year the Challenge Salou it is consolidated as a benchmark test of the calendar with some of whats best Spanish and international triathletes competing in the event. This season the most prominent names were the champions and runners-up. All of them have made a great 2018 season.

In the male category the Australian Cameron throw took the win ahead of Galician Pablo It's pitiful. Later Wurf was 5th in the Challenge Roth and 2nd in the Challenge Almere. In the last 13 months he has contested 9 “full distance”, also highlighting his performances in Kona where he beat the cycling segment in 2017 and 2018. For his part Pablo Dapena He was proclaimed this year ITU LD World Champion, is a co-leader in the Challenge Family World Bonus Ranking and has been a podium in all the CH Family events held this year, 8 in total.

With regard to the female category, the winner was the Catalan triathlete Judith Corachán and the second place for the British Laura Siddall. Corachán after winning in Salou did the same in Zarautz, La Rioja and Vitoria, as well as being third in Embrunman. For his part, Siddall won the Challenge Madrid and was fourth in Roth, and got 6 podiums in the Challenge Half distance.

Courses

The Challenge Salou is disputed under Half distance, 1.900m of swimming in the Mediterranean Sea, 90km of cycling divided in 3 turns to a very fast circuit, completely flat to finish with the half marathon, 21,1km of running race.

Anti-water measures

The Challenge Salou organization works for check that there is no drafting in the cycling segment and for this he puts several means:

  • Separate outputs by batches of 100 to 150 participants
  • Judges on a motorcycle
  • Judges at fixed points
  • System fixed and mobile cameras for de-grades after further analysis

Relays

Relay participation can be in male, female or mixed teams of 2 or 3 components. Each team will have a hat, a chip and a bib. The witness is given giving the number and the chip to the partner. From the start of the competition to crossing the finish line, the chip must be carried by the member of the team that is competing; always in the ankle, so the relay is passed handing the chip to the partner.
