Things to keep in mind when traveling to Challenge Salou

We leave you a series of tips that will be very useful in your visit.

Salou, is the "capital" of the Costa Daurada. The warm climate and the tranquility that is breathed during this time of the year make it the ideal destination to spend the holidays or make a getaway

During the weekend of Challenge Salou, the city becomes with the triathletes, where this year with the change of location of the test, everything will be located in the official campsite, La Siesta Salou Resort & Camping with which you can live the "triathletic atmosphere" all weekend

If you are going to participate in the Challenge Salou or you intend to go to Salou, we leave you a series of tips that will be very useful in your visit.

Details to be considered

The La Siesta Resort camping is exclusive for the event and there you can enjoy the parking, the EXPO, the Pasta Party, the Briefing, the Finisher Experience with the paella and the awards ceremony

El Friday  in the afternoon the party of the volunteers, a party with BBQ, music, gifts and many surprises.

The Challenge festival starts on Saturday with the Open Water swimming crossing, the Breakfast Run, a 4 km test for families, the Junior Challenge and in the afternoon the Challenge Woman

Saturday afternoon will be the Pasta Party 13: 00-15: 00

If you stay at the official Camping you will have Late Check Out (16 output: 00 Sunday hours), y the Early Breakfast (06 breakfast: 00 AM on Sunday)

You can also save bicycles to the bungalow and you will have the possibility of park your vehicle for free.

How to get to Salou?

Getting to Salou is easy from Barcelona since it is only 110 kilometers from Barcelona and 11 kilometers from Tarragona.

By plane

Salou does not have its own airport, but you can land in Barcelona. The distance between Madrid and Tarragona is 500 kilometers. Estimated flight time is 01 hour and 20 minutes

By car

From Madrid there are 550 kilometers (5: 30) where there are several stretches of motorway with an approximate cost of 65 €.

From Barcelona there is a distance of 110 kilometers, where it will take approximately 1: 20 with a toll cost of 23 €.

On Ave

If you are traveling from Madrid, there is a direct train to Tarragona with a duration of 2: 10 approximately.

By Train - From Barcelona to Salou

The RENFE train company covers the service between the Barcelona Sants and Salou stations.

Trains start working at 06: 03 and the last one is at 21: 03. The frequency is from 25 minutes to an hour and a half.

The trip takes about an hour and a half and ticket prices range from € 8,80 to € 19,90. The frequency is from 3 minutes to 2 hours.

By Bus - From Barcelona to Salou

The Plana bus company connects the Barcelona City Center with Salou. You can take the bus at Passeig de Gràcia, next to the Metro Station. The bus stop is right in front of Casa Batlló.

Buses start working from the 07: 15 and the last one goes to the 23: 15. The frequency is from 1 to 2 hours.

Where to stay?

Salou offers a wide range of accommodation, although the organization of the event has the official campsite, La Siesta Salou Resort & Camping, available to athletes, which is located just 450 meters from the start.

This is a great choice since you will live the atmosphere from the beginning, enjoying the facilities offered by this venue and the facilities for triathletes, such as the Late Check Out, y the Early Breakfast

Things you'll have to see in Salou / Tarragona

Salou Offers a wide range of beaches, from small and rocky coves to the crowded beaches of Levante and Poniente.

It's a popular destiny to practice windsurf, see her y golf. Another cool thing to do is the Parapet walk, a 2km path that follows the sea -from Pilons to Playa Llarga where you can see the great natural and scenic wealth that surrounds it. Another option is a route of about 4,5km -from Replanells to Racó-, which reaches the Lighthouse of Salou,

Port Aventura. It has all kinds of roller coasters, the most incredible shows, children's areas for the little ones, restaurants, shops, accommodation.

But if you're what you like to do something more cultural, you can go to Tarragona, city World Heritage,  which is just 10 kilometers away and enjoy the beautiful city center, which during the Roman Empire (Tarraco) was one of the main cities of Hispania and capital of the Roman province Hispania Citerior or Hispania Tarraconensis. You can enjoy the Cathedral, anfiteatro y Roman circus or Plazas del Font, Forum o of the Rei
