Territorio Challenge grows in Spain Challenge Vitoria presents itself with new headquarters in Challenge Family
Did you have any dreams for this 2013? It has just been fulfilled. Challenge Vitoria is already officially part of the Challenge Family, the prestigious international triathlon circuit, which will open this next 2013 a new headquarters in Vitoria.
After the success of organization, participation and economic repercussion for the city of the Triathlon World Championship, Vitoria, Vitoria will once again vibrate with the biggest sporting event in this city the next 28 in July. A triathlon distance Challenge: 3,8 kms swim, 180 kms by bike and 42 kms by foot which will run in the heart of the city and thus joins the two that our peninsula has already hosted since 2009 in the coastal town of Calella: Half Challenge Barcelona, which will also be next year the European Middle Distance Championship, the next May 19 and Challenge Barcelona that will take place on October 06, 2013.
The Australian Chris McCormack who was proclaimed ITU Long Distance World Champion last year in Vitoria said that the province was ideal to organize a Challenge distance triathlon: "The Basque people are very welcoming and the people cheering in the circuit is fantastic - it's a perfect place for a triathlon with its incredible history and spectacular scenery. The official presentation of the same has been held today 23 November to the 12.15 in the Reception Hall of the Town Hall located in the Plaza de España in Vitoria, the act has come JAVIER MAROTO, Mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, JAVIER DE ANDRÉS, General Deputy of Álava,FELIX WALCHSHÖFER, President of Challenge Family, ENRIQUE URRUTIA, Director of Institutional Relations at Ura, FRANCISCO JAVIER ALEJO, Director of Advertising, Image and Sponsorship of Kutxabank and ENEKO LLANOS, Elite Alava Triathlete.
The circuits designed for the World Championship have been made between the organizing company and the local triathlete, Eneko Llanos and will be located at:
- Swimming: 3,8 kms in Landa Provincial Park in the Ullibarri Ganboa reservoir
- Cycling sector: 180 kms that take place in the llanada alava
- Race on foot: Start and finish in the heart of the city.
The organization foresees a participation between 700-900 triathletes that will remain in the city an average of 4 days and that between companions, fans and participants will add between 14.100 and 18.200 overnight stays The income will report to the city a figure between € 2.300.000 and € 3.000.000.
