The goal of Albert Moreno: get a TOP 10 in the Iroman 70.3 World Championship

The young triathlete Albert Moreno of 24 years has recently achieved his classification for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship.

Subcampeón of the Duathlon World sub23 in 2012, winner of the Half Natureman in 2013, 3 second places on the circuit Extreme Man and 3 podiums in the circuit Ironman 70.3 He is a triathlete who has demonstrated his quality in this type of tests and that will have to be taken into account in the coming years.

From Triathlon News we wanted to interview you to get to know you a little better.

With the 70.3 World Cup your maximum goal, what would be a result that you would be satisfied with?

The important thing is to arrive with the homework done and have the peace of mind that you have done everything that the coach (Cesar Varela) has marked me. From there it would be seen, but it depends a lot on the conditioning factors that arise in the race. I think that with a place among the first 10 would be very, very happy. Difficult: =)

You will run the next European Championship in Wiesbaden (Germany). Do you have it as one of the main objectives of the season?

The truth is that it is not the main objective of the season, but taking advantage of the fact that it is in August that there is a lack of races, it will be good for me to see how my preparation for the 70.3 world championship is going

What made you dedicate yourself to the middle distance?

I always had a great time with the bike and in olympic distance the truth is that I lost a bit of prominence, this and the fact that my swimming would never be to win important careers in ITU races made me pass the long distance to an early age.

What is the triumph or result for which you feel most satisfied? Why?

I think that any of the podiums that I have achieved (3) in the 70.3 circuit has left me very satisfied, since it makes me maintain a regularity that in the end is what costs the athletes the most.

Do you dedicate yourself professionally to triathlon?

Today I am professionally dedicated to triathlon and I try to combine my sports career with my university tourism career. While it is true that the priority is for triathlon.

Do you intend to stop focusing on the long distance in the coming years?

Of course! But not yet, I am young and my body still has a long time working more than 4h bike for example, so an IRONMAN today I do not think it was competitive. Of course, and I always say it. The day I can finish the Alpe d'Huez Triathlon with good sensations and with strength will be an important step to consider the Ironman.

Would you mind explaining a workout that you like?

I love to go out on a long bike (4h) with an hour of warm-up, then an hour of hard coupling at a competitive pace, then a soft hour and then to finish another hour at the rhythm of competition.

I have to thank all my sponsors who make it possible that I can be doing what I like the most, as well as the people that help me in my day to day life. Without all of them this would not be possible and I would not enjoy it the same way I do.

Thank you.
