The countdown begins for the European Half Distance Championship - Half Challenge Barcelona

Less than a month after the celebration of European Middle Distance Championship - HALF CHALLENGE Barcelona, which will take place next 19 May in the Catalan town of Calella, 2.000 are the registered ones who have confirmed their presence for this event that promises to mark a milestone in the world of triathlon to bring together for the first time in history two great world champions as they are Chris McCormack y Javier Gómez Noya, this appointment being also the Media Distance debut for the Spanish triathlete who will start as one of the great favorites to take the first place on the podium.

 

As if this were not enough, other references in this sport discipline, such as the Danish Michelle Vesterby, current winner of the Lanzarote Ironman and 12º placed in Kona, Camila Pedersen Runner-up of the World of Long Distance 2012 and winner of the last edition of Half Challenge Barcelona, ​​the Italian Martina Dogana, the Germans Kristien Lie and the middle distance debut of the Olympic Ricarda Lisk... among other favorites in the female category, they have already confirmed their presence.

In the male category, although initially all views will be placed on Javier Gómez Noya y Chris McCormack that will guarantee an authentic spectacle, it will not be necessary to let overlook other triathletes referring as it is the case of the Olympic danes Jens Toft winner of Half Challenge Fuerteventura, the Italians Gipsy y D'Aquino, the great Belgian duatleta Joerie Vansteelant or the Russian and at the same time invincible specialist in Winter Triathlon, Pavel Andreev, among other great triathletes.

Representing Spain, and as hosts of the event, HALF CHALLENGE Barcelona will have the luxury of having the current Middle Distance Spain Champions, Raúl Amatriain y Marta Jiménez.

In this 2013 edition, the triathletes will premiere a new cyclist segment, a spectacular circuit that will run over two natural parks and that will also have a perfect profile for holding a Media Distance test.

Other news for this European Championship It will be the change of the location of the boxes area located at the foot of the sports center and medical center Calella Area, as well as the Hotel Sant Jordi that will be the epicenter for the organization of this event.

These, among many other novelties such as the Challenge Party that will take place after the awards ceremony, will turn this event into the largest media distance triathlon event held in Spain in the last decade.
