The Spanish triathlete Eva García has achieved today the bronze medal in an exciting final in the Cross Duathlon World Championship of Ibiza, adding the third medal for the Spanish Triarmada.
A heart attack ending
The Castilian-Manchegan surpassed her rival, the Slovakian Kristina Lapinova, in the last meters, thanks to a spectacular sprint.
García expressed his happiness for this first medal in a world championship in the elite category.
It was only surpassed by the Swiss Anna Zehnder (silver) and the Dutch Diede Diederiks who took the gold.
Outstanding performance of the Spanish Triarmada
The competition had notable results for Spanish athletes in the Cross Duathlon: Enara Oronoz (5ª), Sergio Correa (6º), Rubén Velázquez (7º) and Aleix Sellares (10th), all of them in the top ten.
In the sub-23 category, Francisco Javier Prados obtained the gold and Arnau Monzonis the silver. In the junior category, Isabel Navarro won gold and María Barceló bronze.
